As hectic and busy as December can be with all the hustle and bustle of shopping, parties, seeing people and to-do lists, December can also be quite peaceful and powerful when we focus on presence.
Regardless of whether you are standing in a manic or quiet space this month, could you take on the challenge of being fully present?
Here’s how it looks in real time:
Live it up with all the fun and festivities December brings, be there while you talk to friends and family, aware of the decorations in the room, the blazing fire someone took the time to make, eschewing the to-do lists in your mind while you listen, really listen, to what the other person is saying.
When the gremlins start yapping, acknowledge them and smile, knowing they are trying to take you into another moment- past or future- and that it has no bearing on the now. Because in the now is right where you are supposed to be, no where else except enjoying the busy moments of your life.
Similarly, during the quiet moments, be present with the Christmas special you’re watching on television, aware of the serenity of the tree, the glow of the lights in the window, the comfort of the cup of hot chocolate or peppermint tea in your hands, sitting in silence and enjoying those moments too.
Cause that’s the point.
It’s not the destination or the “when I do this, then everything will be better” or “when this happens, then I’ll feel okay.”
What matters most is whatever you are doing right this very minute.
What you are doing right now is exactly where you are supposed to be on your Hero’s Journey, watching it unfold with grace, doing the best you are able to in each moment by being aware of what each moment is bringing to your life in order for you to live in alignment with your highest self.
That’s it. That’s the magic.
Enjoy this holiday season!
All good things to you,
